BREAKING NEWS: Cambodian PM to Meet Ukrainian President in Coming Days

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen has said that if nothing changes, he will be holding a meeting with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, over the phone in the next few days.

In a post made on his official Facebook page on Thursday, 27 October, the Prime Minister said that after the first phase of the government's flood relief mission ends, he will review a number of internal affairs documents and will also be engaged in a number of foreign affairs related to the ASEAN Summit, the G20 Summit and the APEC Summit.

The Prime Minister added that he will also speak with President Zelenskyy over the phone.

"If there is no change [in circumstances] and the timing of the ongoing diplomatic arrangements, I will meet with the President of Ukraine over telephone in the coming days," he wrote.

It is unknown at this time what the Prime Minister will discuss with President Zelenskyy. This is the first time that Prime Minister Hun Sen will meet with the President of Ukraine since Russia's 24 February invasion.

Cambodia has been a staunch opponent of Russian aggression, voting against the invasion and demanding that Russia withdraw its troops from Ukraine. However, Cambodia has also expressed that it does not support sanctions placed against Russia, as these sanctions cause widespread losses to all.
